| Greetings
from Academic Information Services, also known as AIS. As
a division within Academic Affairs, AIS provides services
and resources to support the teaching, learning, research,
and outreach activities of the University.
We
live and work in a constantly and rapidly changing world of
information and technology. This environment can be challenging
yet overwhelming, exciting yet frustrating. As you engage
in your studies, research, teaching, and recreational learning,
it's important that you be able to navigate successfully the
many resources available to you, with as few glitches as possible.
Academic Information Services is staffed with professionals
truly dedicated to helping you make the most of the resources
AIS has to offer.
Each
of the five AIS departments has a web site describing services
and hours of operation; links are provided to services, forms,
and policies to help you make the best use of our resources.
AIS
is located in the Harden Learning Resources Center, a cornerstone
of the campus academic mall. In addition to providing services
to students, AIS has many career enhancing employment opportunities
for students, and those seeking a job on campus are encouraged
to investigate AIS.
I
invite students, faculty, staff, and visitors to meet the
people, visit the facilities, and become familiar with the
services and resources that make up Academic Information Services.
I
also welcome your comments. Feel free to contact the AIS secretary to set up an appointment (906-227-2117).
You may also send e-mail messages to me at dwalch@nmu.edu.
Enjoy
your time at NMU and enjoy a lifetime of learning!
