Northern Michigan University invites applications for visiting fellowships for research in residence at the Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University Archives and the Lydia M. Olson Library. The Fellowship grant supports scholarly research and provides access to the collections of the Archives and Library. The successful applicant will be drawn from proposed projects that extensively use the collections of the Archives and Olson Library. Projects must be scholarly in scope and may include theses, dissertations, research papers, and publications. Upon completion of research, the successful applicant will be invited to participate in a lecture series focusing on local and regional history.
The Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University Archives is a repository for manuscript collections that document the history of the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan and archival records that document the history of Northern Michigan University. Topical research areas include the history of education, the labor movement, politics and government, environmental preservation, religion, linguistics, and literature.
Applicants are asked to complete the form, then mail or fax the form along with a current curriculum vita and two letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin July 1, 2003, and continue until an award is made. For further information, please contact:
