ELIS - Embedded Librarian Instructional Services Request Form
- NMU School of Nursing Courses Only -

ELIS is the next step in state-of-the-art, personal pro-active library services to NMU students. ELIS is available to all types of courses which incorporate WebCT and utilize library resources & services, including web-enhanced (in-class + WebCT), hybrid, and online-only. It is applicable to all levels of courses from UN 100 Nursing blocks, to Practical Nursing,
BSN, MSN, & post-master's certificates of Nurse Educator, and Family Nurse Practitioner.

ELIS is a direct, organized library presence in WebCT or other Course Management Systems. It reaches beyond having a librarian as "guest speaker" in WebCT--it is an entire Learning Module that is added to the WebCT component of your courses.  Using a basic template, Library faculty do all of the work of creating, customizing, & then managing ELIS throughout the semester, including answering questions posted in the discussion folders or received through other means (e-mail or chat). There are no assignments; however, we are willing to work with course instructors to enhance existing or develop new library-friendly assignments.

By submitting this form, you will grant Course Designer permission to Prof. Mike Strahan, NMU Olson Library Liaison to the School of Nursing. Course Designer access allows the librarian to add/modify ELIS components/content, and post replies to Discussions. This Course Designer-only access does not provide Instructor access. That is, the librarian cannot see grades, view submitted assignments, track students, etc. (the Teach tab is removed).

Once CTL staff receive the form, they will activate such permission in your specified courses. Mike will then load and customize the following ELIS components in your WebCT course(s), based upon type of course. Input from course instructor towards customization is encouraged & welcome.
