ELIS - Embedded Library Instruction Services
Request Form
rev. 8/25/2013

ELIS is the next step in state-of-the-art, personal pro-active library services to NMU students. ELIS is available to all types of courses which incorporate EduCat and utilize library resources & services, including web-enhanced (in-class + EduCat), hybrid, and online-only. It is applicable to all levels of courses from certificate through post-master's degrees.

[However, ELIS is not available for EN 111. Please direct further questions to Prof. Mike Strahan, Dr. Mollie Freier(liaison to English), or Dr. Laura Soldner (Director of Composition).]

ELIS is a direct, organized library presence in NMU course management systems. It reaches beyond having an AIS faculty member as "guest speaker"--it is an entire package of resources which are added to the online component of your courses.  Using a basic template, AIS faculty do all of the work of creating, customizing, & then managing ELIS throughout the semester, including answering questions posted in the Forums/Discussion folders or received through other means (e-mail or chat). There are no assignments; however, we are willing to work with course instructors to enhance existing or develop new library-friendly assignments.

By submitting this form, you will grant Embedded permission to the NMU Olson Library Liaison assigned to your department. This permission/access allows the Liaison to add/modify ELIS components/content, post replies to Forums, and post announcements. Embedded permission does not provide Instructor access. That is, the Liaison cannot see grades, view submitted assignments, track students, etc.

Once CTL staff receive the form, they will activate such permission in your specified course(s). The Liaison will then load and customize the following ELIS components in your EduCat course(s). Input from course instructor towards customization is encouraged & welcome.

ELIS is a direct, organized, personal library presence in EduCat, consisting of:

Olson Library Block links to:

Course/program-specific Library Resources, Services, & Help library guide
Citing/Referencing Style library guide (APA, MLA, Chicago/Turabian, etc.)
Contact information / methods of access to Embedded Liaison person
