You may now schedule curbside pickup for your holds. This service is available for any NMU, MeLCat, or Interlibrary Loan requests if you have received a confirmation message stating the items are available on the hold shelf.

To renew your library materials, sign in to your library account.
The process has changed this semester. Renewals should be requested on or after the item's due date. We have eliminated late fines for all books and media items, so renewing shortly after the due date will not incur fees on your account. Additionally, you will be able to renew overdue items without library staff assistance, as opposed to previous semesters.
Anna and Rich Lundin Summer Research Fellowships allow five NMU Honors Program students the opportunity to pursue one-on-one, faculty-mentored research during the summer term.
The research fellowship awards are designed to aid NMU Honors Program students who will be entering their final year at NMU. Each winner is awarded $5,000 that can be employed in ways that best suit his or her academic research.
The library will not be open 24/7 as it has been this semester. Library service hours and study-only hours will be adjusted to balance staff availability and demand.
The upper floor will be closed so that we can better monitor masks and social distancing. Library staff will retrieve books from the upper floor for anyone who needs them. To have us retrieve a book, contact us during library service hours, or use the “Request” feature in the Library Catalog.
The project must be accompanied by a brief (500-word) essay describing how resources from either the NMU Olson Library or the Archives were used in the project, and how this institution supported the work. The submission should be accompanied by a cover sheet signed by a faculty member who was involved in the project.

There are new LGBTQIA+ titles at the library, handpicked by the student organization, Queers & Allies! Here is a quote from the organization's executive board.
The library study rooms are closed until further notice. All existing reservations have been canceled.
If you are seeking a place to attend an online class, we recommend sitting on the library main floor and using your own headphones. The library main floor allows conversation and background noise.
If you are seeking a place to meet with group members, please utilize the library main floor. It is recommended for group work and background noise can be expected.
We have a new seasonal affective disorder lamp or S.A.D. lamp here at the library! It was donated by the student government, ASNMU, or Associated Students of Northern Michigan University.
If you are interested in checking this lamp out, it is located on the third floor of the library, near the elevator. There are instructions on how to utilize the S.A.D. lamp printed out nearby.
If this lamp happens to be in use when you are interested in stopping in, we do have another lamp located right at the top of the stairs on the third floor that you can use as well.
