ARTstor
ARTstor is a digital library of nearly one million images in the areas of art, architecture, the humanities, and social sciences. In addition to traditional images in art and architecture, ARTstor includes ornithological paintings, political cartoons, sheet music covers, and anatomical drawings. ARTstor collections consist of contributions from museums, individual photographers, scholars, special collections at libraries, and photo archives. |

ARTstor can be browsed by geography (United States, Spain, etc.), type of work (painting, photography, etc.) or collection (Detroit Institute of Arts, Hunting Archive of Asian Art, etc.) Additionally, you can search by keyword, title of work, or by creator. Searches can be limited to a particular geography or type of work.

When viewing images you have options at the bottom to zoom in or out, rotate, pan within the image, download, or print. Also, a permanent URL is provided at the top so you can link to the image. ARTstor allows you to register, providing you with the ability to store images in folders. NMU faculty can request special permissions, which allow you to upload personal images to ARTstor and share folders with students. |

ARTstore offers copyright clearance for students, faculty, and staff to use images and text for presentations and lectures, course reserves, classroom handouts, student presentations and papers, and research projects. Users of ARTstor may not use the content in ARTstor for any commercial purpose, including incorporating content in print or electronic publications distributed through a press (whether commercial or noncommercial). |
