Opening Event Panel Discussion (February 18th, 4-5:30pm, Jamrich 1322) Reception to follow in the library.

  • Raeanne Madison: Program coordinator at the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan department of Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Services. She coordinates a statewide coalition dedicated to maternal and infant health, along with several other grants related to infant safe sleep, prescription drug abuse prevention, and commercial tobacco cessation. Through her work, Raeanne wishes to honor the past and future generations by helping tribal communities live in a good way. Raeanne is a member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, Bois Forte Band, and has strong family ties to the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community in beautiful Baraga, MI.
  • Cathy Abramson: Sault Tribal Council Member; Chair of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary's Tribal Advisory Committee; Member, National Indian Health Board.
  • Tony Abramson, Jr: Supervisor, Traditional Medicine Program, Sault Saint Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
  • Dr. Alex Ruuska, professor, NMU Sociology and Anthropology Dept.
